The Romanian Academy is the higher Romanian cultural forum .It was established in April 1/13 1866 as “Romanian Literary Society”.
According the January 5th 1990 law-ordinance, on its organizing and functioning, The Romanian Academy retrieved not only its Name, but also its status as “the ’s higher scientific authority, gathering the most important personalities on Science, Technology, Education, Arts and Culture, comprising the Romanian nation creative spirituality.
The main objectives of the Romanian Academy are:
- Raising the Romanian national language and literature;
- National history studying;
- Major scientifically domains research;
- Promoting the ethical and democratic principles of ideas free communication within Romanian science, arts and literature.
The Romanian Academy is autonomous. Its income also came from donations, inheritances and sells, in order to attend its academic purposes.
